Nothing too exciting going on today. Although, I do have one funny story to tell. Tonight was bath night. I always let Asher lay on his blanket naked for a bit because he absolutely loves it. I normally remember to cover him up with the towel so if he pees it doesn't get all over. Well, I forgot tonight. I was sitting next to him watching tv and I suddenly hear pee hitting the floor. I look down and he is peeing all over his own face! This was a first for him (and hopefully a last). As bad as I felt for him it was pretty funny! Lesson #1: always cover the private parts!

Here we go...

Brand new to the blogging scene. I actually just checked other people's blogs out for the first time today.  I suppose I will start with a little background.  My husband and I married in August of 2010. We reside just west of Des Moines in a small little town.  Although its not where we want to live forever, it works for now!

A short timeline highlighting our major life events:

August 7th 2010- Married after "dating" 6 (I think) years.
August 14th 2010- Welcomed our first child, Harley (he's a dog).
June 2011- Moved from Windsor Heights to Dexter.
August 18th 2011- Welcomed little Asher into the world!

That brings us pretty current. We haven't done anything too exciting since Asher was born.  He enjoyed his first Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas as much a little baby can!  That brings us about up to today. I am fortunate enough to be able to stay home with Asher. I absolutely love it. He is an awesome little guy and I seriously cannot get enough of him! I also take online classes. I have about a year and a half before I graduate with my Bachelor's in Psychology.  Don't ask me what I'm doing after that; I'm clueless. My husband, Zach, works at Chicago Bridge & Iron full-time. He also keeps extremely busy out in the garage working on trucks. He will soon be quitting his full-time job to open his own diesel performance shop. He is super excited about it and Asher and I are super excited to have him around more!

You are probably wondering why "A Cat in the Yard?"

"A Cat in the Yard"- the cat in suddenly obsessed with being in the backyard.  He really doesn't care where he is back there; he just wants to be out there.  He is currently laying on the corner of the deck while it rains. What a freak. Why such a random blog name? I don't know but it just feels right.

This blog will probably be rather random. I jump around frequently. Sorry, deal with people. I'm sure the majority of it will focus around Asher. No one will have a problem with that though- he's pretty much amazing and you'll soon find that out.

Well, I'm about to quit for the night. First, I'll briefly run over some things I may cover. Take notes, there will be a test.
  • Asher. He is amazing. No one will have a problem reading stories about him or seeing his adorable pictures.
  • Pure randomness. I might have a mild form of ADHD. And I love totally random and quirky things in life. I plan on sharing those things as I come across them.
  • Venting. Yep, sorry. I always want to vent on Facebook but I get sooo annoyed with those people who always do. As a point to not become one of those people, I rarely complain on Facebook.  I will try to limit it here but we will see.
  • Recipes. Don't get excited. I like to think I'm a great cook but that's not even close.  I can make some awesome chocolate chip cookies and oatmeal banana muffins but that is pretty much it. My husband is a garbage disposal and I often see him trying to choke my food. So hopefully I can find some easy recipes and work my way to becoming something great (or even mediocre)!
  • My little family. Not just Asher, but what is going on with the 5 of us (3 humans, a cat, and dog).
  • Crafts. Once again, do not get excited! Ever since I've been on Pinterest, I see sooo many cute things. Unfortunately, I am not too crafty. Hopefully I can work on that.
  • Gardening. One thing I am pretty good at! I love gardening. However, I hate snakes. This has already been a problem for me this year. I'm sure I will tell you about it later.
Well folks, that's it for tonight. Until next time...
